The Website That Nearly Broke Us (But Didn’t)

If you have been part of our journey for a while, you may have heard whispers about “the new website.”

You might even be wondering if it actually exists.

Truthfully? There were moments when we wondered the same thing.

What we thought would be a straightforward rebuild has became one of the most challenging chapters in our studio’s history. Not because we lost belief in it, but because the road there tested us in ways we never expected.

For nearly two years now, this project has pushed us further than any digital build ever has.

And if we are being completely open, there were moments we questioned everything.

It started with excitement

The vision was clear from the beginning.

We did not want to simply refresh our website, we wanted to completely reimagine it.

A smarter platform.
Better ordering.
More control for creatives.
Faster workflows.
Trade focused features.
Technology that genuinely supports the way photographers and artists work.

Something worthy of the people who trust us with their prints.

So we committed fully, time, energy, resource, and belief.

What followed was not the plan.

The setback we never saw coming

Partway through the build, the agency we had worked alongside for over a decade suddenly closed its doors.

Designdough were not just a supplier to us. They were friends. A team who understood our business, our standards, and the level of detail we care about.

Then overnight, they were gone.

No warning.
No transition period.

Just like that, the people who knew our systems inside out disappeared, right in the middle of a complex rebuild.

If you have ever been deep into a major project when something like this happens, you will understand the weight of it. It is not just inconvenient, it is destabilising.

We were not simply choosing a new partner.

We were rebuilding momentum from scratch.

Re explaining years of ideas, re sharing the vision, relearning how different teams operate and rechecking decisions already made.

It was exhausting.

Behind the scenes, it was heavy

What most people never see is the pressure projects like this carry.

Running a busy print studio does not pause because a website becomes complicated.

Orders still leave the building at speed.
Clients still need guidance and support.
Quality still has to be flawless.
Deadlines still matter.
Our team still shows up every single day ready to deliver.

So the rebuild happened in the margins. Early mornings before production began. Late evenings after machines stopped. Weekends that quietly turned into planning sessions.

There were financial pressures that came with restarting parts of the project, timelines stretched far beyond what felt comfortable and with that came the very real responsibility of protecting our team while carrying the weight of a delayed launch.

At times, it was incredibly difficult.

There were technical hurdles that forced redesigns.
Features that needed re engineering, moments where progress felt painfully slow and decisions that kept us awake longer than we would like to admit.

But quitting was never an option, because this is not just a website, it is the future foundation of our studio.

Why we refused to compromise

We could have launched something quicker.

Something simpler – Something “good enough.”

But good enough has never been who we are, if our name is on something, it has to work beautifully, it has to feel effortless for you. It has to remove friction, not create it.

So instead of rushing, we kept building, carefully, intentionally, properly, not for hype, but for longevity.

Each time we hit a hurdle, we asked ourselves one simple question:

Will this still feel right five years from now?

If the answer was no, we kept working.

What this journey reminded us

Pressure has a way of clarifying what truly matters.

Throughout all of this, one thing never shifted, our commitment to the people we print for.

You.

Whether you place one order a year or one hundred, your work deserves a platform that reflects the same care we put into every print leaving the studio.

This rebuild is about giving you that.

A smoother experience.
Stronger tools.
Greater confidence when ordering.
More capability as your own business grows.

Not just a new website.

A serious upgrade.

So where are we now?

Closer than we have ever been.

After setbacks, rebuilds, problem solving, and more persistence than we knew we had, the finish line is finally coming into view.

We are edging into the final stretch, and for the first time in a long time, we can feel the shift.

The system is stronger, the vision is intact and our excitement is back!

If all continues as planned, we are aiming for a launch around the middle of this year.

Honestly, we cannot wait to put it in your hands.

Thank you for staying with us

If you have supported us during this quieter build phase, thank you.

If you have continued ordering, recommending us, and trusting us with your work, thank you.

Most people never see what happens behind the curtain of an independent business striving to raise its own standards. Building something meaningful takes time. Building it through unexpected setbacks takes even more.

But we would always rather arrive slightly later with something exceptional than earlier with something average.

This website has been an absolute mission, one of the toughest we have taken on.

But the best things we have ever built as a studio have never come easy and this will be no different.

We are almost there now and we cannot wait to show you what is coming.
